Training & Engagement Officer
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role as a Training & Engagement Officer at Race Equality First. The role involves tasks such as conducting training sessions, developing training materials, communicating with stakeholders, and executing employee training programs. The position is based in Cardiff, with flexibility for some remote work.
Position: Training & Engagement Officer
Salary: £30,000 per year + 3% pension
Contract: 2-year fixed term (until 30th June 2027)
Location: Cardiff & Home-based (hybrid) with travel across Wales
Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week
Holidays: 28 Days per annum (plus bank holidays)

About the Role
As our Training & Engagement Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering training and awareness-raising sessions to communities and organisations across Wales. Reporting to the Training Manager, you will be instrumental in promoting our initiatives, including around gambling harm awareness in Black and Ethnic Minority communities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering training, workshops, and presentations with our Training Manager on cultural diversity, hate crime, discrimination, and other topics, to businesses, public sector organisations, schools and community groups across Wales.
- Identifying training needs, developing programs, and delivering sessions via in-person workshops, webinars and other mediums.
- Designing and managing online training and assessments on our training portal.
- Organising community engagement sessions, managing attendance and gathering data for reporting.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you should bring:
- Experience in delivering community activities, training and awareness-raising sessions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present effectively and produce concise reports.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload, work independently and as part of a team, and meet deadlines.
Purpose of Job: Assist the Training Manager in providing all of REF’s training requirements across Wales and deliver awareness-raising sessions for Black and Ethnic Minority people in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea about gambling harms, providing earlier intervention and increasing referrals to the National Gambling Support Network provided by Ara.
