Our Impact

With the generous support of our funders and the dedication of our committed team, we are making a significant impact across various sectors. We provide essential assistance to victims of hate crime, offer educational programs for business leaders, and tirelessly advocate for equality in Wales.

Helping people

United Nations

Our Head of Research, Christina Tanti, and her team produced the Joint NGO Shadow Report for Wales, which highlights significant failures in addressing ethnic disparities across all areas of life. The report calls on the Welsh Government to implement crucial reforms to eliminate racial discrimination in Wales.

Originally completed in 2021, the report was revised in July 2024 to reflect current issues surrounding racial inequality in Wales. The report informed the United Nations (UN) examination of the UK in August 2024, and assessed whether Wales and the UK have effectively tackled racial discrimination in areas such as policing, the criminal justice system, employment and education.

Since completing this report, we have given evidence at the UK hearing of the Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Race Equality First attended the hearing in August 2024 to provide feedback to the Committee on the Welsh and UK Governments' adherence to and implementation of the UN ICERD treaty, to which the United Kingdom is a signatory.
