Wales Alliance of Racial Justice
Overview
The Wales Alliance for Racial Justice (WARJ) is a collaboration of leading Welsh third sector organisations committed to advancing racial justice, equality and human rights. Our members support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities across Wales, including those seeking asylum, refugees, young people, women, victims of violence, and individuals facing discrimination, hate crime and systemic barriers.
Our Purpose
The Alliance strengthens the collective voice of BAME people and organisations working for racial justice in Wales. We provide a forum to:
- Share intelligence and lived-experience insights;
- Advocate collectively on key issues affecting the communities we serve;
- Coordinate responses to emerging challenges;
- Communicate clear, evidence-based messages to public bodies and decision-makers;
- Promote cohesion and positive narratives at a time of increased polarisation.
Our Values
- Equality between all member organisations
- Transparency and collaboration
- Independence from political parties
- Commitment to human rights and social justice
- Respect for organisational autonomy
How We Work
The Alliance meets monthly and develops joint statements, briefings and collaborative responses. Public communications issued in the Alliance’s name are agreed by Alliance members. Race Equality First provides chairing and secretariat support and a response to the public and any media queries or requests.
