MEC Health Fair 2022

In 2022 Race Equality First had the pleasure of chairing the Minority Ethnic Communities (MEC) Health Fair.

The MEC Health Fair is the premier minority ethnic community engagement event in South Wales and is held at City Hall, King Edward VII Ave, Cardiff CF10 3ND and attracts 300–500 people from the minority ethnic communities of South Wales.

The MEC Health Fair has an established track record of linking people from minority ethnic backgrounds with health providers and of raising awareness of the help and support available to those with health conditions. Please find attached the Evaluation Report from 2018 MEC Health Fair.

The event encourages people to take preventative measures and think about improving their lifestyle by embracing healthy eating, exercise, and other preventative measures. At this free event, attendees have the opportunity to visit information stalls around the theme of healthy futures, listen to expert presentations on particular health issues, and enjoy a range of therapeutic treatments. Everyone, particularly people from minority ethnic communities, are welcome to come along to what is a fun and informative event.

By doing this you will help ensure that the success of the fair and raise awareness of health issues (particularly relating to mental health) that affect people from minority ethnic backgrounds who can experience disproportionately higher levels of ill health.
